Polycarbonate Multiwall Structured Sheets

The excellent thermal insulation of polycarbonate multi-wall structured sheeting results from the air cells inside the hollow structure of the sheet. It has a much higher insulating ability than single walled, corrugated, or solid flat sheets. It offers lower heat loss (or gain), and therefore - higher energy efficiency. Multi-wall structure sheeting, with its co-extruded UV protective layer, will resist the effects of solar UV radiation.

Installation

Sheets shall be installed at a 2/12 pitch or greater with the channels running down the slope. It is recommended that all rafter centers be no greater than 24”. Runs shall be supported by perlins a minimum of every 4 ft.

Blown and Taped

Sheeting should be mounted with ribs running downwards to assist in condensation water drainage. To prevent algae growth as a result of permanent condensation inside the channels - CrystaLite’s breathable end-tape should be used to close the open ends of the channels.

High Light Transmittance

Multi-wall sheets offer a high degree of light transmittance while blocking harmful ultra violet rays. In its structured sheet form, polycarbonate sheets also offer excellent thermal insulation properties.

Virtually Unbreakable

Polycarbonate sheets are economical and light in weight, yet is 10 times stronger than acrylic and 200 times stronger than glass!

Skin System Notes

A minimum of a 2/12 pitch is required.

Structure Sheet - To prevent algae growth and the build-up of debris inside the channels - CrystaLite’s breathable end-tape should be used to close the open ends of the channels while allowing the escape of water vapors in the event of moisture penetration.
The end-tape needs to be protected from the weather by covering with flashing or perimeter cap.
