Tested & Certified
Standard skylights are NAMI certified to the NAFS Standard per commercial and residential code requirements for air infiltration, water penetration and structural loading; commonly referred to as ‘AAMA Testing.’
Custom skylights are compliant to the International Building Code; structural deflection limited to L/175 per ASTM E 330, air infiltration tested per ASTM E 283 at 6.24, and water penetration tested per ASTM E 331 up to 30.00 psf.
NFRC Rated
All CrystaLite skylights and custom slope glazings have been NAMI certified and NFRC rated for U-factor, Solar Heat Gain (SHGC), and Visible Light Transmittance (VT).
Skylight Code Compliance
CrystaLite skylights have been tested and certified to all standards and requirements set forth by the building and energy codes.
Glass skylights are typically built for residential skylights utilizing tempered glass for both panes in an insulated unit. Some code requirements exist which require laminated glass. All commercial glazing applications typically require laminated glass for the inboard pane. Review the Technical Notes portion of our Skylight Informational Packet for more information.

CrystaLite skylights are NAMI certified and NFRC rated for thermal performance; U-factor, SHGC, and VT (visible light transmittance). Skylights are NAMI certified to the NAFS Standard for air infiltration, water penetration, & structural loading; commonly referred to as ‘AAMA Testing.’

Design Loads
Design loads (downward pressure) established by certification to the NAFS Standard include a 200% safety factor. All standard glass glazed skylights are certified to 85 psf design loads. Plastic glazing certification various depending on size and configuration.
Snow / High Loads
CrystaLite’s 5842, 3962, 5830, and ES frames have been certified with high load specific glazing configurations to achieve a high design load ratings of 310 – 330 psf to comply with local code requirement for snow loading concerns. Available upon request.
Skylight Frames
We offer several options in standard skylight frames; including a standard aluminum frame, an aluminum thermal break frame; and our highly insulating PVC/Aluminum frame series. CrystaLite’s primary standard skylight is our 5842 frame, capable of encompassing both insulated glass units and acrylic dome glazing for fl at roofs. The 5843 frame is our production line model of our PVC frames, limited to our most common sizes and insulated glass units.
Our 5830 frame is our operable PVC skylight and is available with manual and electric opening hardware.
ES [Energy Saver] Skylight
The upper assembly of the ES Skylight now features our 5842 PVC frame and an insulated glass unit. This upgrade is to ensure condensation control and exceptional thermal properties while maintaining a clear view, high visible light, and great STC. High Load glazing available.
5842 PVC/Aluminum Frame
This is our most common curb mount frame featuring a PVC interior frame and a bronze or clear anodized aluminum cap. The PVC interior provides an excellent thermal break. Custom sizes are available. All corners are welded – interior and exterior. High Load glazing available.
5843 PVC/Aluminum Frame
This is our production line frame, offered in models 2626, 2638, 2650, and 2674 sizes only; and limited to insulated glass glazing only.
3962 Aluminum Frame
Standard aluminum frame, also available as an opener. High Load glazing available.
3921 Thermal Break Frame
Thermal break frame features a resin core within the interior aluminum extrusion.

5830 PVC/Aluminum Venting Frame
Our most popular opening skylight frame features a PVC interior. A PVC leg drops down into the light well which provides a flat surface to attach the chain drive Truth opener and aligns flush with interior drywall. The chain passes through a slot in the inner frame which allows the bug screen to cover the entire daylight without interruption. Option for hand crank (Truth angle drive) vs. 6′-10′ pole (Truth straight drive) should be determined at time of order. Screen is standard. Designed for standard 1-1/2″ thick curbing only. High Load glazing available.

Hurricane Tested & Approved
The CrystaLite Tubular Skylights under went numerous tests by the Hurricane Test Laboratory, Inc. in Riviera Beach, Florida and successfully passed to achieve the rating of “hurricane approved.” HTL Testing includes air infiltration, water penetration, and structural loading required per building codes.

Standard Kit
CrystaLite’s 10, 13, and 18 inch kits are provided standard with forward sloping flashing that is designed for 2/12 – 8/12 pitched roofs. Flat roof flashing is available as well and is standard for 21 inch kits. For the 13 and 21 inch kits, curb mounted flashing is available.
