Skyblinds
Your Clear Choice
CrystaLite Skyblinds are the most versatile shades available. They are known as tension shades, meaning that the blinds travel on tensioned wires to allow for operation at any angle, including overhead applications. Skyblinds are typically operated manually with a telescopic pole, to pull the blinds open and closed. A battery operated electronic motor is available as well, with an AC adapter included, with the option for a handheld remote or wall switch.
Aluminum side rails are included which allow the shade to fit into a window opening up to 2″ wider than the shade itself. Either side of the side rail can be used to face against the window well or towards the room. Usually the 1-3/4″ side of the “L” shaped side rail is put against the walls of the window well and the 3/4″ side faces into the room. Exact measurement will allow you the best fit of your shade into the window well. Wait until all drywall and other finishes are added prior to making your final measurements.
Shade Sizing
Shade sizes are determined by the finished inside opening of the skylight well. It is imperative that the width of the well be determined accurately. The length of the top rail and bottom rail are determined by this dimension. The sliding rail travels from the top of the skylight well to the bottom of the well and thus the width of the opening needs to be consistent for the travel distance. Therefore, the shade rails will be made in accordance with the narrowest width dimension of the opening. The manufacturing will usually make the rails 1/4″ less than the finished opening unless told to do otherwise. The length of the opening is not as critical, since the pleats in the shade allow for some tolerance.
Five Year Limited Warranty
All Skyblind shades will be free from defects in materials and workmanship for a period of five years from the date of purchase. Provided such products were properly installed and that they were handled in a careful manner. Warranty does not apply to conditions caused by normal wear and tear upon the product.

Optima Shades
The most convenient, trouble free operation of any constant tension skylight shades. Easy to install instructions included with each shade. They operate from an open position by use of an extension telescoping pole inserted into a ring on the moving rail (motorized opener also available). There are no unsightly hanging cords. Side channels eliminate light gaps and take up dimensional variations in window openings. Each shade has an easy to adjust tension control.

The minimum spacing now recommended is 3″ for pleated privacy and cellular light filtering and 12″ or more for cellular midnight. This recommendation is to prevent abnormal heat build-up between the shade and glazing material. Abnormal heat build-up may cause permanent distortion and damage to plastic glazing or may cause breakage/fractures of glass glazing.
Note: West and South exposures are more critical.
